A small market town with a charm all of its own!

The market town of Dalton-in-Furness is the ancient and historic capital of Furness and has several historic sites of interest, including; the Piel Castle, Pinfold and St Mary’s church, which are located near to Chequers Hotel at the start of a footpath leading to Furness Abbey (main picture, top). Dalton-in-Furness is also home to South Lakes Wild Animal Park, one of Cumbria’s leading attractions and world renowned for its wildlife conservation.

Shopping, History and Nightlife

5 Miles from Dalton-in-Furness lies the town of Barrow-in-Furness, famous for its Shipbuilding and submarines over the past 120 years. This is documented at the Dock Museum, which was built over a dry dock and shows how the area and ship building industry has developed over the past century. Barrow has loads to offer whatever your passion, whether you like wild walks along Britain’s rugged coastline, visiting the cinema, enjoying sport, shopping or discovering history, Barrow has plenty to offer.
